FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is an internet protocol that allows you to transfer files to your web hosting account. You can create FTP accounts in the DirectAdmin control panel.
This KB article is intended for DirectAdmin shared hosting users.

To create an FTP account in DirectAdmin:
1. Connect to your DirectAdmin account
2. Navigate to Account Management >> FTP Management
3. Click the CREATE FTP ACCOUNT button.
4. Enter the details: the desired username and password. For the home directory you have 4 options:
A. Domain – FTP account with the root directory in the domains home directory (one up from the public_html)
B. FTP – FTP account with the root directory in the domains public_ftp directory
C. User – FTP account with the root directory as the user name in the public_html directory
D. Custom – Where you will provide a custom directory
In the end click the CREATE button.
To remove an FTP account in DirectAdmin:
1. Connect to your DirectAdmin account
2. Navigate to Account Management >> FTP Management
3. Select the FTP account you want to remove and click the DELETE button.
4. Confirm by clicking another DELETE button.
